New business not so new?
Yesterday, Jason Fried posted about a book by Ricardo Semler, a Brazilian businessman who inherited a company from his father and remade it into something very special. Semco, his company, appears to embody a number of cutting-edge ideas about loosely organized teams, personal capitalism, minimal bureaucracy, the like. The sample pages I read at Amazon echo Paul Graham’s life-changing (for me, at least) August 2005 essay, What Business Can Learn from Open Source.
Semler’s book was published in 1988.
